The first in a series of four unique Rolls-Royce Droptail commissions, named ‘La Rose Noire’ has been unveiled by the car manufacturer.

The new design is estimated to cost more than $30 million, making it the most expensive car in the world.

According to the marque, the name and design of the new vehicle was inspired by “the romance and allure” of the black baccara rose.

Rolls-Royce said that the design of the new car “incorporates the most complex expression of parquetry in Rolls-Royce history,” with 1,603 wood pieces hand-finished and hand-placed over an almost two-year period.

The new vehicle also comes with a matching champagne chest, designed to house a vintage grown by the new owner, and features a wearable Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept timepiece built into the car, and detachable for wear.

Commenting on the new launch, Alex Innes, Head of Coachbuild Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said: “Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is glamour distilled. The guiding inspiration for this dark, bold and powerful commission was the Black Baccara rose, which was a significant point of affection for the client and a source of fascination for the design team.”

He continued: “ Its rich and complex character informed our creative exploration, influencing the palette, composition, and intricate detailing of the motor car. It led us to blend radically modern design concepts with age-old exquisite craft techniques while using materials that subtly reinforce the clients’ deep connection to France. Our shared commitment to shaping a meaningful and progressive design statement has culminated in a deeply significant expression of the patron’s character and a new pinnacle for contemporary craftsmanship.”
