Originally sold at Christie’s in the 2011 auction the Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, Matthew Rubinger, International Head of Handbags & Accessories, believes it to be the most ‘most important handbag to ever be auctioned.’

“This museum-level handbag is not only important for its impressive provenance, but from a handbags perspective the Kelly 20 has been discontinued for over 15 years, the colour, Jaune, is discontinued, and the leather Courchevel is discontinued. This is truly an irreplaceable item.”

Christian Louboutin x Star Wars Collection Is Out Of This World

In a galaxy far, far away, Christian Louboutin dreamed up a capsule collection inspired by the leading ladies in the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Having previously worked with Disney on shoe lines for Cinderella and Maleficent, Louboutin reached for stars with the four designs dedicated to the film characters Rey, Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Captain Phasma and Rose Tico. He said:

“At first sight, the Star Wars universe and mine seemed far away from one another but when I saw the pictures of the red planet Crait, I instantly understood where it connected and why they had thought of me. Strong ideas and images spontaneously came to my mind.”

Each style is glamorous extension of the character’s costume and every shoe is embellished with a bespoke glimmering jewel inspired by the Tie Fighter. The designs signed by Louboutin as well as the actress portraying the character, will be auctioned until December 20 with a portion of the proceedings benefitting Starlight Children’s Foundation on behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change.

Etro Cruise 2018 Collection

A global citizen, Veronica Etro travelled round the world to bring a fusion of prints, rich fabrics and feminine silhouettes to her Cruise 2018 collection.

She re-imagined classic styles with oriental and African motifs, floral designs and paisley details that decorated sophisticated fabrics. Some of the pieces may seem flamboyant, but Etro manages to balance the wild designs with elegant proportions that makes everything work together in harmony.

Starting with the familiar, signature flowing dresses, that capture contemporary bohemia, have asymmetric hemlines providing easy movement and flexibility of how you style them. Other shapes were elongated especially in kimonos, robes and fluid cardigans, while eye-catching wallpaper prints were transferred onto jacquard coats.

The Rainbow bag is updated with new, bold prints while fabrics from ready-to-wear are reworked on other leather goods and shoes – over-the-knee red block heel boots caught our eye.

Emirates Tips For Hassle Free Travel From Dubai

Want to avoid festive travel hell of an over crowded airport and busy check in desk? Emirates Airlines share their tips for a hassle free journey from Dubai.

Numbers Game

More than 420,000 travellers will be passing through Emirates Terminal 3 during the weekend period, according to the airline’s latest booking figures. The busiest day for the airline is expected to be on Friday 15 December so make sure to plan ahead. Arrive at least three hours before scheduled departure to guarantee a stress-free check in and time to enjoy some Duty Free shopping. Customers who check in less than 60 minutes prior to their scheduled flight departure will not be accepted for travel which would seriously dampen your Christmas spirit.

Get your snacks and head to the gate 90 minutes before departure with the actual boarding starting 45 minutes before each flight.

Get Online

In addition to online check-in services, Emirates also offers convenient car park check-in facilities equipped with 16 check-in counters. Customers can use these to check in and drop off their luggage. Easy peasy.

Watch The Weight

Along with checked in baggage, passengers are strongly advised to adhere to carry-on baggage weight limits, which are 7kg for Economy Class and 14kg for Business and First Class. That seems plenty unless, you have decided to pack all your party shoes covered in jewelled embellishment in one bag.

Drop It Down

Anyone heading to Emirates Terminal 3 can choose to drop their luggage at one of the 46 dedicated bag drop counters in Economy Class or separate counters in First Class and Business Class from six hours to 90 minutes prior to departure. Families travelling with small children can use dedicated Family counters in Check in Zone 2. Now that’s some serious pre-planning.

Chanel Métiers d’Art Pays Tribute To Karl Lagerfeld’s Birthplace

Hamburg looked particularly stylish yesterday with guests from around the world arriving for the latest Chanel Métiers d’Art show.

The birthplace of creative director Karl Lagerfeld, editors and celebrities were welcomed to Elbphilharmonie concert hall, a striking location that seated 1,400 fans of the house, including Lily-Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart and Tilda Swinton.

The models descended through the auditorium while five musicians from the Ensemble Resonanz played a soundtrack created by Oliver Coates, a British composer. For those who may have struggled to see some of the details would have appreciated a pair of Chanel opera glasses.

This was the second time Kaia Gerber graced the Chanel runway showcasing the collection that focused on a nautical theme reflecting the heritage of Hamburg with a 60’s twist. Tailoring, sheer fabrics, heavy-duty coats, chunky knitwear and sailor caps dominated. For evening there was plenty of embellishment, rich fabrics like velvet and lace as well as tulle scarves worn round models’ heads. But it were the bags that remained a talking point after the Lagerfeld took his leave. Continuing with the Hamburg’s maritime heritage theme, Chanel’s new it-bag, the Duffel, is designed from canvas trimmed with leather and is based on the totes traditionally carried by sailors.

A chic tribute that will inspire a sailor in anyone. Now where can we find a Chanel yacht? Click through our top looks from the show above.

Escape: Six Senses Zighy Bay

For a getaway that is a mixture of adventure and relaxation, Zighy Bay might be the unique experience for the festive period you never knew you needed.

Location

Set among the dramatic mountain peaks of Musandam peninsula in Oman in its own secluded bay, you really feel like you’re on another planet, although you have driven a mere two hours from central Dubai. Once you cross the border and drive through a quiet town, you end on a very rugged path. Don’t panic, this is the adventurous part of your route which slowly leads you past a security checkpoint. If you have come in a 4×4 then you carry on up ‘slowly, slowly’ at recommendation of the staff, or leave your wheels behind and jump in the back of their own transport to finish the last stretch of the journey to the resort.

The hill climb is nerve wracking, but as you reach the top and admire the blue waters of the Arabian Sea stretching up past the horizon and spot the resort at the bottom, you’re filled with relief and excitement. Once you enter the reception area, you are rewarded for your extreme driving with a date smoothie and a refreshing towel by a group of very friendly staff. Their attentive and kind nature is a permanent fixture, they clearly love to look after their guests with a number of them working there since the resort opened in 2008.

Rooms

We were lead down a sandy path to our two-bedroom villa situated among the palms and a couple of rows from the sea. It is one of 82 at the property with ample of space that includes a large outdoor area including a pool heated to a perfect temperature. The split-level design is ideal for families and offers all the facilities you may possibly need, including you own butler. There are also villas situated directly on the beach.

Style

The resort itself charms a large number of international guests for its traditional Omani design with modern comforts, as well as plenty of space so you never feel like any part of the hotel is too crowded.

Food & Drink

The food is another highlight with great menus at all the restaurants, including nightly buffet at the Spice Market and spectacular views from Sense on the Edge.

Something Extra

To make the festive experience even more special, Zighy Bay has recently introduced a very special Dhahab cruise on a traditional Omani dhow. The modern interior design is seen throughout the outdoor and indoor communal spaces with three bedrooms for 6 guests. The three-day and two-night cruise to neighbouring villages and sites is completely tailor made to your wishes, be it fishing, snorkeling or simply having your all-time favourite cuisine prepared by the on-board chef, served morning, day at night.

Need to Know

  • Guests have an enormous bay entirely to themselves.
  • Every single villa has its own decent sized swimming pool.
  • For the view and good food, dine at Sense on the Edge.
  • Plenty of activities including spa, tandem paragliding, and diving.
  • The Dhahab cruise is available now.

A&E Edits: Most Popular Fashion Trends Of 2017

With another year coming to a close, we have decided to look back on the last 12 months of statement pieces and bold combinations to gather our top five most popular fashion trends of 2017 that we will still be wearing next season.

Frilled

top trend 2017

Gucci, Michael Kors and Mulberry.

Nearly every single designer delivered their interpretation of a frilly trend. Alessandro Michele for Gucci went to the maximum, while Michael Kors and Mulberry presented a grown-up take on a flirty style. Don’t hurry to pack these away next year, there will be plenty to be frilled about just with a touch more structure.

Mellow Yellow

top trend 2017

Emilio Pucci, Chloe and Tibi.

It was yellow’s time to shine – an optimistic hue that offers variety of brightness and tones to suit any style. At Chloe we saw boho feminine silhouettes and preppy layering, while Tibi and Emilio Pucci were more about the sophisticated woman with subtle pleats and clean shapes. Wear head to toe or look for pastel shades next season.

Hello Kitty

top trend 2017

Dior and Prada.

Kitten heels are having a moment and are still trending well into 2018. For SS17 designers like Celine and Dior chose a modern take on ladylike style while Prada injected some sporty decadence with feathers and velcro strap. Meanwhile, Balenciaga created must have Knife kitten heel mules that were snapped up by all street style stars.

Millennial Pink

top trend 2017

Valentino, Bottega Veneta and Fendi.

It was virtually impossible to avoid the term ‘millennial pink’ that kept cropping up in many collections and trend reports. Despite initial reaction of it being overly-girly, this sorbet hue is incredibly versatile, modern and slick. Valentino, Marni and Emilia Wickstead show how diverse it can be. Next season, look for tailored pieces in this bubble gum shade.

Ring On It

top trend 2017

Simon Miller, Chloe and J.W. Anderson.

We have stopped counting how many times a Chloe Nile, J.W. Anderson Pierce or Simon Miller Bonsai bags have come up in all fashion week or runway roundups. What do you they all have in common? A metal ring. Ring bags have been a hit this year that will retain their appeal well into the next season with Chloe adding new colours to it’s sell out line up.

New era glamour calls for a rebirth of an old party classic and there is something decadently now about an evening turban.

First Look: Fendi Pre-Fall 2018

You can always rely on Karl Lagerfeld to make you look fabulous head-to-toe and for Fendi Pre-Fall 2018 collection, that is exactly what he does.

It seems that Lagerfeld was particularly feeling the love with a heart theme dominating most of the pieces. Titled ‘Open Your Heart’, the collection strikes an elegant balance between style and extravagance with a sense of empowerment and modern femininity.

Hearts popped up on a wide range of signature garments, from the easy-chic sweatshirts and the cozy sweaters, to the upscale fur coats. They also appear in the jacquard motifs of a voluminous outwear and as fluffy love-hearts on a leather cape. There is plenty of tailoring, mix of prints, sharp silhouettes and bold shoulders.

As for accessories, Fendi updated some of the favourites like the Kan I F bag and the Runaway graphic tote with a reworked Madras pattern. The FF logo squared pattern is worked in shearling on Baguette and Peekaboo bags or in shiny paillettes on Micro Peekaboo. Rockoko boots are presented in a combination of leather and knitted fabric showing the squared FF logo while the signature sock-shoes get a Western makeover into cowboy boots featuring a combination of Madras jacquard and a patchwork of exotic skins.

Are you feeling the love? Click through the gallery above to see the full Fendi Pre-Fall 2018 line up.

Fresh Way To Part Your Hair

For a glamorous transformation with minimum effort, it’s time to move your hair parting a little further down.

As seen at SS18 Dries Van Noten and Max Mara, a slick and modern approach to evening glamour can be achieved by sliding your hair slightly lower off center. Not only it delivers a contemporary look that will compliment anything from a sparkling gown to a tailored tuxedo, you’ll only need a few essential tools for a polished finish.

Second day hair is best as it’s fluff free but there’s nothing that some texture spray can’t achieve. Once worked into your locks grab a comb and play around with where the parting feels best. It may seem slightly unfamiliar but try and move it as low as you can so the final result has a purpose rather than a slight shift from your usual style. Tip: using the cold setting on the hair dryer can help set it.

Once happy with the positioning use some lightweight gel for a wet finish, or setting spray to fix it. Wear straight or tie in a pony tail and use pins to control any unruly strays. Need inspiration? Click through backstage beauty looks above.

Joining fellow Kering-owned brand Gucci, the Paris-based design house will unify men’s and women’s collection from March 2018 that further indicates a change moving through the fashion industry. First Look: Chanel Neapolis Makeup Range

Chanel brings warmth of the Mediterranean to SS18 Neapolis makeup range.

Chanel’s Global Creative Make up and Colour Designer, Lucia Pica, looked to her home city of Naples and the ever-changing landscape and history. It provided the mood for colours and techniques that offer a warm and rich approach to sunkissed beauty.

The name Neapolis – or ‘New City’ – reflects Naples’ origins as an ancient Greek colony clashing with contemporary lifestyle that Pica reflects in her choice of greens, yellows, golds, reds and blacks. She said: “My hope is that women will be open and spontaneous with colours. They are buildable, so you can wear a subtle wash of color or create a more intense effect.”

Central to the collection is the limited edition Les 9 Ombres eyeshadow palette. Get those summer flushed cheeks with the help of Joues Contraste blush in Foschia Rosa while the nails have a choice of pastel hues or bold shades of orange and yellow.

Our top pick is the Poudre A Levres – a tinted lip powder, inspired by the tempera technique of Pompeiian frescoes, mixed by hand and applied fresh to the lips every time you apply. Each palette contains a clear, moisturizing balm and a tinted pressed powder pigment. Using your fingertips, apply the balm to moisturize lips, then pat on the powder using one of the two applicators.

You’ll Soon Be Able To Buy A Céline Trapeze Bag Online

Celine Spring Pre-Collection

Celine Spring Pre-Collection

There is no avoiding the demand for ready-to-shop items online, and rumour has it that Céline will finally be joining the e-commerce game.

There has been much resistance from the current Artistic Director Phoebe Philo to migrate her collections online as she believes the store experience is what makes purchasing the must-have handbags and minimalist pieces so special.  However, LVMH-owned fashion label will be offering online sales of bags, shoes and clothing as early as next week, according to Business of Fashion.

It is hard for designers to deny the boost of revenue that a website can bring with brands such as Gucci growing because of their e-commerce strategy. With a growing number of savvy millennial shoppers who look for luxury at a swipe of their finger has further increased the urgency for luxury labels to reconsider their digital structure.

According to the BOF, Céline will be testing the waters in France first before expanding to the rest of Europe and the US. The three-tone Trapeze bag can soon be just a click away.

Tiffany’s Home Collection Is Anything But Ordinary

Chic Lounging With Olivia von Halle

The festive period is not all about dinner parties and glitzy events; it’s also the time to unwind in style with luxe loungewear from Olivia von Halle.

Inspired by laid-back silk outfits worn by Coco Chanel in the 20’s, former brand consultant von Halle launched her elegant nightwear collection in 2011 which was immediately snapped up by editors and style stars, with many wearing her pieces beyond the boudoir.

After studying Fashion and Textile Management at Leeds University, she worked for the Future Laboratory in London as a trend forecaster for clients including Louis Vuitton, Gucci Group and Lamborghini. In 2008 she moved to Shanghai, China, where she continued her career. After evenings events with friends, she would long to ditch her sky-high heels and constricting outfits for something glamorous enough to enjoy a nightcap and this ritual inspired her to head back to London and launch the brand.

Now, the range includes delicate silk pajamas, robes, kimonos, nightshirts and eye masks; all beautifully cut in a variety of prints and colours. There are also tracksuits that could transition from loungewear to daywear that Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez as well as Gigi and Bella Hadid are firm fans of.

Comfort and style delivered on a chic level that even Coco herself would snap up? We’re sold.

For Dior Haute-Couture SS18 collection, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior make-up, designed a strong look echoing the surrealist inspiration behind Maria Grazia Chiuri’s line, based on the character and works of Leonor Fini.

He explains: “Their artistic freedom inspired an extreme, excessive eye design. Using quotations chosen by Maria Grazia Chiuri, I also wanted to emphasise the surrealist sense of humour and taste for subversion with temporary black tattoos drawn straight onto fingers, ears and around the neck. The chosen words and messages celebrate the creative free spirit of surrealism, for example: ‘Clef’, ‘Liberté’, ‘Contradiction’ ‘L’art’ and Bal Masqué’.”

The eyes were the stars of the show (besides the clothes) and to achieve the needed drama Philips used the new matte black Diorshow On Stage Liner to draw the lasges onto the upper and lower eyelids, framing the eyes and stretching excessively towards the temple. The brows were polished with Sourcils Poudre Pencil and Diorshow Bold Brow for a beautiful finish.

To balance the artistic eye, the complexion was kept natural and glowing with the use of Diorskin Forever & Ever Wear Primer and Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation and set with light veil of Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Loose Powder. Lip Maximizer kept the lips natural which were then given a slight hint of colour with Lip Glow in pink or matte pink.

This couture look is not for every day but there is always a chance of a dramatic occasion.
