Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry made their first official royal engagement following the Royal wedding on Saturday, and naturally everybody wanted to know what the Duchess of Sussex was wearing.
The newlyweds attended a garden party for the 70th Birthday Patronage Celebration of Harry’s father, Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. For occasion, the Meghan was dressed in Flavia Silk-Crepe Pencil Dress by Goat with a matching pale pink Philip Treacy fascinator.
The British brands website crushed following a flood of shoppers wanting to snap up the royally approved dress with a spokesperson for the label commenting:
“We are delighted Meghan chose to wear Goat and it was a pleasure the make a custom dress for her.”
It’s not unusual for a member of a royal family create a fashion frenzy with both Meghan and Kate Milddleton’s choices being snapped up seconds after public appearances. The Duchess of Sussex looked positively happy making her first appearance as a royal and the Royal Family have confirmed on their website that she will ‘undertake royal duties in support of The Queen, both in the U.K. and overseas’ as well as ‘devote her time to supporting a number of charities and organizations.’

We can all agree that Amal Clooney took the crown for the best dressed guest at the Royal Wedding on Saturday, and her beauty look was equally as strong.
Created by the famed makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, her complexion was glowing while the emphasis remained on the eyes and lips. Tilbury said:
“Such a dream getting one of my favourite people in the world ready for this historical British moment! Many congratulations to their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
On Amal, Tilbury used a blend of Light wonder foundation in 6 and 7 and then added Retoucher in 2 and 3. The brows were emphasised with Brow Lift pencil in Brooke S and Legendary Brows eyebrow gel in Linda. Amal’s eyes stood out with the help of Luxury Palette in The Sophisticate while the lashes were lengthened with the Legendary lashes Volume 2. Richemont group have launched a brand new watch brand Baume that focuses on complete customisation, modernity and sustainability.
Deemed a ‘genderless brand designed for a better tomorrow’ Baume is complimentary to the existing Baume & Mercier collections and is set to appeal to younger generation of watch lovers. The two lines on offer include the Iconic Series and the Custom Timepiece Series. The Iconic Series watch is the brand’s flagship, crafted as the expression of recycling and up-cycling principles. Updated seasonally, this automatic movement timepiece is crafted in aluminium with a 100% recycled PET bracelet (polyethylene terephthalate made of plastic resin and a form of polyester).
Nothing makes a statement like a timepiece designed to your likes and Custom Timepiece Series offers around 2,000 combinations. The simple online process involves selecting the face, style, colour, strap and size and if you wish, you can also add an engraved message or monogram. Once you’ve chosen your watch, it takes 15 days for assembly and delivery, and if later down the line you want to change up your wrist style, the timepiece can be sent back for recycling or reuse.
“Our goal is to fulfill the utmost standards of quality and craftsmanship, while committing to the power of collaboration within a circular economy,” says Baume Brand leader Marie Chassot.
Sustainability is key for the digitally-only brand so you won’t see them using animal-based or precious materials, instead the straps are made from up-cycled or recycled fabrics such as cork, cotton, linen, alcantara and recycled PET, and when your creation lands on your door step, expect only paper and cardboard packaging.
“When individuals find a best-fit product, they last,” says Chassot, “This, twinned with our on-demand production eliminates waste and avoids the creation of obsolete stock.”
Richemont, that owns Cartier, Piaget, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoutre and Montblanc, is making a bold step in the industry that still largely relies on in-store purchases. The new brand strives to entice the Millennial generation, as well as all those sensitive to a philosophy of sustainable development.

Meghan Markle surprised many by choosing Clare Waight Keller to design her simple yet elegant Givenchy wedding gown, but her flawless beauty look was exactly what we expected.
Makeup artist Daniel Martin created a natural glowing complexion that showed off her freckles, while the eyes were the stars of the show. The lids were filled with smoky gray eyeshadow while the eyebrows were neatly filled in with the lashes curled and lengthened. The cheeks were flushed with a peachy pink tone and this soft hue was also used on the lips.
The visionary behind Markle’s bridal hair was the French-born master stylist Serge Normant, who gave the new Duchess of Sussex a low bun that was covered by a five-metre long veil and Order of Splendour tiara, on loan from the Queen and once owned by Queen Mary, with a few stray strands framing her face.
Maria Hatzistefanis, founder of Rodial beauty has put together her own guide to how to recreate Markle’s beauty look with some of the key products from her range.
1.Prep the skin with the VIT C pads + Pink Diamond Mask for plumping & lifting
2. Skin tint in Hamptons + St Barths applied lightly
3. Glamobrow in Dark Ash Brown to define the brows
4. Smokey eye pencil in brown + eye sculpt for eye shadow
5. Multiple layers of the Glamolash XXL mascara
6. Lots of bronzer mixed with blush in Copacabana
7. Suede lips in Melrose Avenue

Lebanese Director Nadine Labaki has become the first Arab woman to win Jury Prize during the 71st Edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
Labaki brought audience to tears with her dramatic film Capernaum that was met with a 15-minute standing ovation. Three years in the making, it tells a story of a 12-year-old boy in the slums of Beirut who sues his family for bringing him into the world. The drama has attracted plenty of global attention with rumours that it will be receiving an Oscar nomination, she told France 24:
“We went to many places that are very problematic in Lebanon, with prisons, jeuvenile detention centers and associations that help these kids. And it was only after listening to all of their stories that the idea for the movie came naturally: A child suing his parents for bringing him into the world. These are kids who – when you ask them, ‘Are you happy to be here?’ – most of the time they’ll say, ‘No’.”
Competing against 20 other thought provoking films, Capernaum secured the third place of the prestigious Palme d’Or making Labaki the second Arab director to receive an award at the festival. She added:
“Cinema is not only about making people dream. It’s about changing things and making people think.”

Over the weekend, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially became the Duke and Duchess Of Sussex and celebrated their special occasion in Windsor castle with a billion people watching round the globe.
Normally, the newlyweds will be getting ready to jet off on their honeymoon, but as their first official Royal engagement as husband and wife is scheduled for May 22, the happy couple will have to postpone their travels.
On Tuesday, they will attend Prince Charles’s 70th birthday patronage celebration at Buckingham Palace with the date of the honeymoon still unconfirmed. According to UK newspapers, Prince Harry and Meghan will stay for their minimoon in Ireland, with the main trip planned for South Africa.
The Sun newspaper reported that the pair are likely to stay at Hoanib Valley Camp in Kaokoland, north-western Namibia, which is ‘the world’s only Africa-wide giraffe conservation organization.’ The Telegraph however believes that they will choose Botswana where they have already celebrated their anniversary last year.
If the Duke and Duchess Of Sussex are still undecided, we have put together some of the most spectacular honeymoon destinations that will fit any royal needs.

The Royal Wedding 2018: Meghan Markle Chooses Natural Makeup
The Royal Wedding celebrations continued with newlywed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle changing for the evening reception with the bride choosing Stella McCartney custom gown and Princess Diana’s ring.
The happy couple were snapped leaving for Frogmore house with the new Duchess of Sussex wearing a bespoke high-neck lily-white dress made of silk crepe by Stella McCartney and shoes by Aquazurra with the soles painted in baby blue. The large blue cocktail ring, that belonged to her late mother-in-law, stood out on Meghan’s finger as the pair waved at the crowds of people from their blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero.
Around 200 guests were awaiting to continue the celebration at 17th century mansion on the grounds of Windsor castle hosted by Prince Charles. Among the guests were members of the Royal family such as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and the Countess of Wessex. Celebrities attending the evening do included Serena Williams and Priyanka Chopra in Dior who wrote on her Instagram account:
“Every once in a while there is a moment when time stands still.. that happened today.. You my friend.. were the epitome of grace, love and beauty. Every choice made at this wedding by you both will go down in history, not just because it was your wedding but because this incredible wedding stood for change and hope. Both things that the world needs desperately. Thank you for being the perfect picture of all things good.. seeing your union and love blessed in front of my eyes Made me so happy.. and tear up! I wish you both love happiness and togetherness always.”
We are yet to learn of exact details of speeches from the evening, but Kensington Palace did confirm earlier that Meghan Markle will break Royal protocol and address guests. What we know for sure is that the wedding cake served at the reception was designed by Claire Ptak and featured elderflower syrup made at The Queen’s residence in Sandringham from the estate’s own elderflower trees, as well as a light sponge cake uniquely formulated for the couple.
According to the Telegraph, which reported that the couple chose Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” as the song for their first dance. The evening event also included a performance from Sir Elton John and was rounded off with an impressive display of fireworks over Windsor Castle grounds.
We can’t wait to see the official photographs from the wedding which were captured by Alexi Lubomirski, who also took Meghan and Prince Harry’s engagement photos.

The Royal Wedding 2018: Meghan Markle Marries Prince Harry In Givenchy Couture
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their vows in front of millions of people around the world, and now the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Sussex are enjoying the first of two receptions.
While the happy couple along with the royal family and 600 guests tuck into Scottish langoustines and slow roasted Windsor pork belly, we take a look at some finer details of this joyful day. Givenchy not only created the wedding gown but also the dresses for the bridesmaids, but what you may have missed is the fact they were also embroidered with their initials. Meanwhile Kate Middleton re-wore the McQueen dress that she previously dressed in for Princess Charlotte’s christening.
As soon as Prince Charles and Meghan approached Prince Harry, you could hear the groom say ‘Thank you pa’ and then turning his bride, he was filmed saying ‘you look amazing’. Being a Captain in the British Royal Army, he wore his uniform for the ceremony but many speculated whether he would keep the beard as rules state that troops in uniform can’t have facial hair. But being a Prince, he got special permission to keep his signature look.
There were three tributes to Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. The impressive floral decorations that filled the St Georges Chapel with scent of wild flowers consisted of white roses, Diana’s favourite flower. Her sister Lady Jane Fellowes did a reading, while one of the hymns in the ceremony “Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer”, was sung at Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997.
The newlyweds chose to travel in the gold Ascot Landau Carriage for their wedding procession through Windsor. One of the five Ascot Landau Carriages that are used by the Queen at Royal Ascot Races ,and also featured in Kate Middleton’s and Prince Williams in 2011, the carriages are designed for sunny weather conditions and allow the waving public to see more of the loved-up pair.
One of the many special guests that attended the ceremony was Manchester Arena bombing survivor Amelia Thompson who managed to snap a picture with David Beckham. The Beckham’s are part of the guest list for the first reception, but whether they will be joining the evening reception at Frogmore House with just 200 guests hosted by Prince Charles, is still unknown.

The French Riviera is buzzing with celebrities and movie lovers for the annual Cannes Film Festival, and while some eyes are on the screen, ours are firmly on the red carpet.
Considered one of the most glamorous film festivals on the calendar, and hot on the heels of the Met Gala, there was plenty of glitz at the premieres and photo calls to admire from the likes of Lea Seydoux, Cate Blanchett, Ava DuVernay and Kristen Stewart – who are also this year’s jury members.
Blanchett showed that if you have a stunning dresses, it deserves another twirl so she wore a black lace Armani Privé gown that she has previously showcased during the 2014 Golden Globes. Blanchett told the Hollywood Reporter that it was a conscious decision in order to promote sustainability and added:
“Particularly in today’s climate, it seems willful and ridiculous that such beautiful garments are not cherished and reworn for a lifetime.”
Penelope Cruz wore a vintage Chanel dress as she walked alongside her husband Javier Bardem who looked dapper in a custom-made Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit. Both are at the 71st edition of the festival to promote their psychological thriller Everybody Knows, which is one the most talked about films this season.
Other stars who lit up the South of France were Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart who both dressed in Chanel, while Julianne Moore went for a bold red Givenchy gown. Click through the gallery to see who else passed out style jury.

Fashion should feel good and one of the best ways to put a smile on your face is with a dazzling display of glittering gowns and sparkling accessories – perfect after-hours glamour.
Don’t be afraid of really going for it in the evening, and just tone down the embellishment during the day with a tailored blazer or a sharp shirt. Looks for dresses and skirts that catch the light with every step and pair with elegant mules or pumps.
Accessories can work for day and night so dare to choose a shimmering heel with jeans and a T-shirt, or slip your hand through a satin pouch bag for an extra touch of decadence. If you want to shine with minimal effort, that’s when statement jewellery comes into play and we are fans of hair clips decorated in pearls or over the elbow gloves that add just the right amount of fantastical glamour to an evening look.
If you make one purchase this season, make it a Louis Vuitton Petite Boite Chapeau bag that perfectly captures the celebratory feel of the midnight hour, but with just enough daytime appeal to make it work all hours.

Charlotte Tilbury Walk’s Us Through Amal Clooney’s Met Gala Beauty Look
Celebrity makeup artist for Laura Mercier, Jillian Dempsey, was the creator Emilia Clarke’s rosey beauty look for the 2018 Met Gala.
Clarke, known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons in TV series Game of Thrones, wore dress and crown by Dolce & Gabbana while Dempsey used the Heavenly Bodies theme to create a ‘gilded angelic makeup look’.
PREP
Jillian hydrated Emilia’s skin with a couple of spritzes of Laura Mercier Perfecting Water Moisture Mist. We at A&E love to use it in the office to wake our skin up.
COMPLEXION
To accentuate Emilia’s flawless skin, Jillian applied Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation in Linen and then used Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Heather Pink on cheek bones for a flushed look. To lock down the foundation, Jillian dusted Translucent Loose Setting Powder. She said:
“I focused on generously applying blush to both her cheeks and eyes for an especially gilded angelic look.”
EYES:
To carry forward the monochromatic look of her cheeks, Jillian applied Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Barely Pink onto Emilia’s eyes and then used the Crème Eye Colour Brush. She then traced the Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Gilded Gold under the lower lash line for a pop of metallic to tie into her golden crown. Then, for extra luminosity, she dabbed Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint in Glimmer onto the top eyelids. Next, she swiped on Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Black Ebony to give the actress a dense upper lash.
If you want your brows to stand out like Emilia’s, then use Laura Mercier’s Eye Brow Pencil in Warm Brunette. Jillian slightly filled in the natural brow shape and sealed them into place with Laura Mercier Eye Brow Gel. Finally, several coats of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara were applied for extra length.
LIPS
Jillian created a custom lip colour using Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in Hot and Fatale “for a custom colour that suits her complexion perfectly.” Jillian also mentioned, “lips can be hard to maintain, especially if you’re doing a lot of eating or talking, and I knew this formula would get her through the night!”
Avant garde makeup wins our beauty seal of approval.

A beach makes for a romantic setting, but while the bride and groom are having their special moment in the sun you have to give your outfit an extra thought.
Not only you need something that doesn’t cling to the body in the heat, but it has to be comfortable enough to wear in the sand and sturdy enough to prevent a Marilyn Monroe moment when there is suddenly a strong breeze from the sea.
You also have to consider the sun, especially if the outdoor ceremony proves to be lengthy so choose sleeves or throw on a jacket, and don’t forget the SPF. Wedges or flats are the best shoe option, or embrace barefoot living and slip into your heels once the party moves inside.

Your Guide To British Royal Wedding Etiquette
Kim Kardashian West made a grand entrance at this year’s Met Gala thanks to the help of her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic who created this statement makeup look, with dark Smokey eyes and 90’s inspired nude lips.
But every flawless makeup look requires an even base and for that Mario used several Rodial products to prep Kim’s skin. He started with Rodial’s Dragon Blood Cleansing Water to remove any leftover makeup or products that helps prevent irritation and allows for the makeup to glide on evenly.
To further cleanse the skin, Mario used Rodial’s Vitamin C Cleansing Pads (this vitamin is particularly great with you’re going to be out on the beach all day as it helps protect your skin from sun damage) followed by Rodial’s Vitamin C Energising Mask for added hydration. Finally, to bring more dimension to the contour of the face – Mario added some of Rodial’s Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel, and from the name you can be sure the results will be red carpet worthy.
Rodial products are available from Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdales

We have browsed the backstage beauty archives from the fashion shows to find the prettiest and simplest ways to upgrade your long hair to a whole new level. A deep parting to one side can instantly transform your look from day to glam, while a simple hair twist secured with a few grips will keep the pesky short hairs at bay. Why fight the frizz when you can turn it into intense curls with the help of OUAI Curl Conditioner or Kerastase Discipline Curl Ideal Oleo Curl Cream, and if you really want to distract the eye from day-two-hair, add braid or golden hair clips like we saw at the Met Gala this year.
Also spotted on the red carpet were sleek ponytails, but disguise the hair band with either your own lock of hair or use a fashionable band from leather or with embellishment. If you’ve been desperately trying to grow your hair our tip is to get a trim every six weeks and apply a nourishing hair mask like AESOP Rose Hair & Scalp Moisturising Masque once or twice weekly. For those who simply can’t wait, Aveda Flagship Salon in Dubai is now offering tape extensions that can last up to six weeks.

10 Questions with… Celebrity Hairstylist Mario Charalambous
Charlotte Tilbury was the mastermind behind Amal Clooney’s beauty look for this year’s Met Gala, and we have the full list of products used and tips for you to recreate this look at home for your own red carpet occasion.
COMPLEXION
Charlotte began by cleansing Amal’s skin with her Multi-Miracle Glow. She followed this with her Goddess Skin Clay Mask, and then her award-winning Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask for red carpet-ready skin in just 15 minutes.
Then she applied the best-selling Charlotte’s Magic Cream to moisturise and create the perfect canvas followed by the Wonderglow primer to give the skin a glowing base, which is ideal for making the Light Wonder Foundation last. She then dotted the Hollywood Flawless Filter in shade 2 along the cheekbones and high points of the face to create a superstar lit glow. To polish Amal’s complexion, she used the Airbrush Flawless Finish powder in shades 1 and 2, and then applied her Filmstar Bronze & Glow, and her new Pretty Youth Glow Filter in Pretty Fresh to the cheeks to lightly contour and add a pop of pink to round out the look.
EYES
Tilbury focused on the brows to add further definition to Amal’s face with Brow Lift in Brooke S to softly fill in and brush up her brows. To create the eye look, Charlotte first applied her Eyes to Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette along the lids as a base, followed by the transparent sparkle POP shade from her new Bigger Brighter Eyes palette in Exagger-Eyesto widen and brighten their appearance.
To finish, Charlotte added the Prime shade in a warm, eye-brightening ivory-cream which reflects light, to the inner corners to give the appearance of wider eyes, followed by a flash of her Hollywood Beauty Light Wand on the cheekbones. The Classic eyeliner pencil in Audrey added a feline flick and for more drama, Charlotte curled the lashes and then applied coats of Legendary Lashes Volume 2 mascara to both the top and bottom.
LIPS
We all admired the Amal’s flawless pout, and you can easily do this with Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Kiss ‘N’ Tell for wider-looking lips with a smooth, long-lasting finish. After, apply a mix of Hollywood Lips matte liquid lipstick in Screen Siren and Hollywood Lips and for a full and cushiony effect, use the Collagen Lip Bath in Refresh Rose.
Now you’re ready for your close up.

Add a personal touch to your accessories with Bottega Veneta’s personalization program which has been launched in the new Dubai Mall boutique.
First spotted on the SS18 runway, the brand celebrates it’s iconic motto “When Your Own Initials Are Enough”, which was a saying coined in the 1970s. It expressed the houses aversion to logos in favour of discreetly luxurious products that could be recognized by their sophistication and singular design. When Tomas Maier took over the helm of the brand in 2001, he utilized the motto as a guiding principle.
Men can choose form seasonal styles from the Stripe group while the ladies can pick from the new women’s bags which include the Intrecciato Palio tote and BV73 tote and bag. Embossing and stamping are both complimentary; the finished product will be available within 24 hours, or within a few days. The graphic shadow letters used in stamping are available in three sizes and six colours.
Stitching requires a longer turnaround period as it can only be executed by Bottega Veneta artisans. All boutiques will offer the service with the option of crocodile or carrara calf letters in seasonal colours.
This is a truly exclusive way for you to make a bag your own.

Tom Brady golden accents on the jacket perfectly matched Gisele Bundchen dazzling outfit. Co-host for night Amal Clooney was positively glowing alongside equally polished George Clooney while Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk made a rare red carpet appearance as a duo.
Tommy Hilfiger and Dee Ocleppo were also in attendance alongside Hollywood stars like Gary Oldman and Colin Firth who both had their wife’s at their side. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott made their red carpet debut and Hailey Baldwin looked smitten with Shawn Mendes.

During the fashion season, Milan sees some of the best designers in world showcase their collections and the streets are abuzz with eye catching style.
Prints, tailoring and modest silhouettes have been spotted on the pavements outside of show venues, with many choosing bold colours. Laid back elegance which mainly consisted of loose trousers with a vibrant shirts evoked Italian summer flair which you’ll be spotting all other the Riviera this summer.
The girls kept up with the boys in equally sharp tailoring and colourful ensembles with a modest dressing at their core. Instead of skin, we saw layering tricks and plenty of neat jackets and matching trousers. While the logo fever seems to have died down a little, despite a couple of Gucci’s and Fendi’s make an appearance, it looks like striped and floral prints aren’t going anywhere this season.

What You Might Have Missed at Men’s Milan Fashion Week
One of the reasons to love the Met Gala is that you get to see some of the most experimental and bold dressing to ever grace the red carpet, and beauty doesn’t do badly either.
This years theme ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ inspired the A-listers including Selena Gomez, Priyanka Chopra, Bella Hadid and Gisele Bundchen to go full gold on the eyes, with some also adding the glow to their complexion. On the other end of the spectrum we have Emilia Clarke who took blusher to a whole new level with intense rosy cheeks. She also sported a Dolce & Gabbana crown and it looks like others also chose intricate headdresses to fit the theme. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked angelic with a golden halo, while Blake Lively and Rita Ora showcased an avant-garde take on the crown of thorns.
Rihanna stunned in a Pope inspired outfit with an equally impressive headpiece, while Kate Bosworth and Ariana Grande wore a delicate veils, with Diane Kruger choosing a net version over her face. Floral romance was channelled by Hailey Baldwin and Jasmine Sanders who decorated their do’s with flowers. Bold hues were swiped onto the lips of Amal Clooney, Janelle Monáe and Priyanka Chopra – who also turned heads with beaded hood that took over 250 hours to make. For something a little bit more subtle, look to Bella Hadid and Kerry Washington who slid golden hair grips into their locks.

If there is one fine jewellery house that can translate the beauty of precious gems into a fragrance, it would be Bvlgari. With the help of master perfumer Alberto Morillas, who has been designing luxury scents for almost half a century, the Maison has envisioned something truly treasurable.
Le Gemme Reali offers three rich Eaux de Parfums that includes sapphire blue for Nylaia, emerald green for Veridia, ruby red for Rubinia. Inspired by Byzantine Empress Theodora who was known for her ambition, curiosity and knowledge, the collection pays tribute to the woman whose aura and personality equalled the magnificence of her reign, and strives to evoke the same strength in a modern woman.
The concept required the mastery of a famed perfumer and no one has a resume like Alberto Morillas. Born in Spain, he spent his youth immersed in the colourful region of Andalusia. Surrounded by such eclectic beauty, it was a natural choice for him to select the School of Beaux Arts in Geneva, Switzerland, for his studies. Lured by the local perfume business there, he was introduced to the metier of perfumery and joined Firmenich in 1970 as a Junior Perfumer. Throughout his distinguished career, he has embraced the passion and legendary practices of ancient Perfumers and in 1988, Morillas was nominated a Master Perfumer. In 2003 he was honoured with the coveted “Prix François Coty” in recognition of his extraordinary contributions in his career.
We sit down with Morillas to discover the inspiration behind Le Gemme Reali and his view on the fragrance industry.
How long did you work on Le Gemme Reali for?
We worked on this collection for two years. My job is to find a new accord and to make this beautiful and unique fragrance.
Who is it for?
This collection is for connoisseur, people who love perfume and luxury and its for men and women. When you have this type of accord it can be worn by men and women and when I create perfume I don’t think of it as feminine or masculine. When you smell Rubinia you have this scent of energy that a man can wear.
Which of the three scents took the most work?
The most challenging was the Rubinia because it had to be intense but also masculine and feminine with notes of sandalwood. Every one was a challenge as it’s not so easy to create a different emotion in each creation. I think Rubinia will appeal to the Middle East, its mysterious.
Could these fragrances be layered?
There is a culture to mix and you can mix these three gems. In the Middle East people understand fragrance and enjoy to mix.
What was it like working with Bvlgari?
In this collection you have the emotion and you have the name, not everyone has the name like Bvlgari, it creates dreams.
How should fragrance make you feel?
When you wear one type of perfume you feel much stronger, it’s your aura when you meet people. Perfume changes a lot with the skin which adds emotions and reflects energy.
Should we wear a fragrance on our skin or clothes?
When you spray on the skin you combine the scent and your personality, and when you spray on the clothes you get the pure scent.
How do you know when you’ve created a perfectly balanced fragrance?
To create a new fragrance, it costs a lot of money and if you make it quickly with not a lot of passion you see the difference. You need to have the passion to start and energy to stop. It’s difficult to decide when it’s finished, sometimes it’s good when it’s finished. Sometimes I am very happy as there is a lot of intensity, but then I’m sad its finished.
If you could bottle Dubai, what would it smell like?
The first impression is warmth and water, and when you arrive in the airport you smell all the perfumes and I love it, you don’t find anywhere else in the world where you smell perfumes when you arrive. Everyone is impeccable.
How has the fragrance market changed?
There is too much marketing and a lot of tests. For this collection it’s not a marketing collection, it’s from the heart. When you need to please thousands you make a test but people don’t understand, but with my big successes we never made a test. It’s a feeling, we decide it’s good.
Do you remember the first fragrance you ever owned?
The first fragrance I owned is Mastier de Cartier.
What are you wearing today?
Today I wear the next Bvlgari for men that will be out soon.
