Baselworld 2018 kicked off an a high with Bvlgari setting two world records for their latest creations.
The jewellery house unveiled timepieces for both men and women in Geneva, the Diva Finissima Minute Repeater and Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic. The first has won the title of the slimmest minute-repeater and raises a majestic anthem to artistry by chiming the time on demand while also celebrating a century of watchmaking and jewellery expertise, masterfully expressed through intricate gemsetting and a dial embellished by gold-spangled Urushi lacquer. The men’s model can proudly wear the winners hat for the slimmest self-winding watch at just 3.95mm – the fourth successive record symbolizes a perfect blend of technical sophistication and aesthetic refinement. It follows the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon in 2014, the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater in 2016 and last year’s Octo Finissimo Automatic.
Parallel to this world record, Bvlgari introduces two new executions of Octo Finissimo Automatic in sandblasted pink gold or steel/rhodium. These new interpretations of what is today a cult-watch epitomises Italian style and propels watch design into a whole new dimension.
Word records aside, the timepieces elegantly embody the codes of the Maison that has long been praised for fine craftsmanship and pushing boundaries of watchmaking. Bvlgari CEO, Jean-Christophe Babin, and Bvlgari Horlogerie Managing Director, Guido Terreni, presented the newest additions alongside Brand Ambassadors Shu Qi and the actress Laura Harrier.

Petar Petrov’s ready-to-wear collections are always modern and striking, so it’s no surprise that the designer’s edgy shoes have been snapped up exclusively by Level Shoes.
Petrov’s collection has been referred to as ‘effortless luxury’ and is inspired by seasonal themes and stories. Available for the first time in the Middle East, his designs are based on what modern woman wants and plays with contrasts by mixing sharp and soft shapes and bright and neutral tones.

He uses traditional handicraft methods to bring to life daring modern designs. Born in Ukraine, he grew up in Bulgaria and moved to Vienna in the 1990s to study economics. He then switched paths by studying Fashion Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Get your feet ready for Aquazzura’s newly opened flagship boutique in the Dubai Mall fashion extension.
Creative Director and founder Edgardo Osorio, in partnership with Etoile Group, hosted a VIP dinner at the Park Hyatt hotel to celebrate the first stand alone store in Dubai. He said:
“I’m so happy to finally be able to welcome all the wonderful Aquazzura clients of the country into our new home at The Dubai Mall. I wanted the boutique to be inspired by the charming, historic architecture of the region, but in a contemporary way.”
Looking for the perfect balance between Arabic elements and the modern design of the brand, the interior pays homage to the beautiful Islamic architecture, and specifically its Mosques. The sophisticated space displays some of the Aquazzura distinctive codes, such as the golden detailing and the black and white combination.
The Arabic decoration is dominant in the gold-framed boutique windows and niches with solid brass shelves, both in form of arches. While the recurring motif of the eight- pointed star, often seen in the Middle-Eastern tilework, is featured in the ceiling tasselation and in the form of a star-cut hand- woven wool carpet positioned in the center of the Boutique floor where clients can try on the latest collections from the Italian shoe brand.

At the 12th edition of Art Dubai, Piaget unveiled the Sunlight Journey collection inspired by the colours and mood of the Amalfi Coast.
The latest pieces are divided into three distinct times of the day – morning, afternoon and evening. Each range aims to capture the feeling of those moments but playing with the idea of the light for example dawn – when sea and sky appear to merge in misty shades of grey, beige and pink. Watches feature dials adorned with variously shaded white opals form sceneries composed of billowing clouds and foam from the sea as the water hits the beach.
As you move into midday, the colours become richer and Piaget introduce sapphires, lapis lazuli blues and emerald greens. In this section you will find a necklace of sapphires, black opals and diamonds crowned by a 20.14-carat emerald-cut blue sapphire that shines with unique radiance like waves lapping against the shore. As you reach the end of the day, sun starts to go down bringing rich hues of orange, pink and gold to the sky. Like an explosion of joy causing rubies and diamonds to sparkle on elegant décolletages, with necklaces featuring Piaget’s sunbeam motifs.

Blessed with all-year-round sunshine means there is always and excuse to add another pair of sunglasses to your collection and we have picked our three favourite trends for spring.
Small specs have been making a mighty impact with designers like Prada and Alexander Wang championing the miniature sunglasses. The 90’s have been championed by Ray-Ban, while the sharp cat eyes from Le Specs have become an instant sell out.
Minimalist might favour the tiny sunnies, but the dramatic types can embrace the wild embellished pairs that have been circulating around Dolce & Gabbana and Miu Miu. Bedazzled eyewear can dress up the simplest of outfits, while also adding sparkle to an evening look.
Soft ice cream shades have made their way to accessories with names like Versace and Alexander McQueen. The retro pastel hues look best against gold hardware and go for oversized angular and circular shapes for a modern feel. Things do look better through rose tinted glasses.

Cooper is seen on a motorbike in front of a vintage aeroplane wearing the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Le Petit Prince”- one of the most iconic timepieces from the Schaffhausen-based company. Nicolas Ghesquière has staged his shows in some of the most beautiful parts of the world and it looks like the location for Louis Vuitton 2019 Cruise Collection is going to be no different.
We all remember the suspension bridge at Miho Museum in Kyoto, Japan for Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2018 line or the Oscar Niemeyer-designed Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro for Resort 2017, but this time round Ghesquière is keeping it closer to the brand’s home and showcasing in the French Riviera.
The latest line will be presented on May 28 at Fondation Maeght in the village of Saint-Paul de Vence in the South of France, which was designed by Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert. Not a bad spot to stick around for a few days.
France is proving to be a popular destination with Gucci choosing the Alyscamps Roman Necropolis in Arles while the Grand Palais will be the venue for Karl Lagerfeld’s next Chanel show.

From tailored silhouettes and neutral shades, we have identified 10 ways to upgrade your wardrobe for spring that can easily become timeless staples for seasons to come.
Treat yourself to suede jacket from Fendi and pair with a work or a casual outfit, while the Burberry pink blazer is a gentle way to introduce pastels to your collection. Sneaker trend has never been stronger and there’s something old school yet very modern about a pair of shiny white sports shoes.

Spring is not spring without a floral print and Saint Laurent’s daisy shirt is just the right amount of flower power while remaining ideal for hotter temperatures thanks to virgin wool-voile that has a light texture.
Raf Simons continues to amaze at Calvin Klein and the recent collaboration between the house and Andy Warhol Foundation has given him access to all of the artist’s creations and we picked the cotton-jersey T-shirt that has been hand-printed with a 1971 portrait of Mr Warhol’s friend Ms Sandra Brant.

Victoria Beckham has announced that she is working on her own skincare range and creating a fragrance.
In a Facebook Live interview with Nicola Mendelsohn, the designer revealed that she is a process of bringing out her own skincare line and following the success of her collaboration with Estée Lauder, this new venture is all about adding the essentials to her own beauty routine. She said:
“I am currently in the process of creating my own colour, and my own line of skincare creams and a perfume. As a woman, I want to make the things that I need in my life, the things that are missing.”
Although this is her first step into skincare, she has experience with fragrance as she previously released perfume with her husband David back in 2006, which was called ‘Intimately Beckham’ and later another called ‘The Signature Collection’. We are yet to learn if this is another collaboration with Estée Lauder and the release date, but Beckham seems very excited about the scientific side of the skincare business and added:
“I’m having fun with the skincare, it’s going to be very scientific. I’m working with the best. I really want to learn. I want to educate myself and learn as much as I can.”

Contemporary brands have seen a surge in popularity and now there is an online destination for new must-have names – Studio B.
Staud was snapped on every single street style star at Fashion Week, while London-based Danse Lente has been spotted across various social media platforms. Rixo is a new go-to for eclectic prints and summer dresses and then you have Gestuz that delivers effortless scandi style.
While previously you had to do some extra leg work to track down these cult labels, studiobfashion.com has curated them all in one place. The e-tailer’s tagline is that it stocks “independent, new and niche brands” and is on it’s way to become a firm favourite among those looking for edgy pieces that they can’t find anywhere else.
After working in luxury fashion for the past seven years in Buying & Merchandising for Mulberry, Matchesfashion.com and Anya Hindmarch founder of Studio B, Bethany Rowntree launched the site in September 2017. In a statement she said:
“Something that always excited me is finding authentic makers and independent labels; discovering their stories, knowing how they produce and celebrating their product. Ultimately, I knew I wanted to use my experience but do something I’m excited about and support brands that are too good not be shared!”
The online platform is still in it’s infancy but we imagine in few months time it will be packed with our favourite names to watch.

ALAÏA Eau de Parfum Nude is a sense of harmony and simplicity capturing the very essence of femininity.
Azzedine Alaïa was a master of creating dresses that felt part of the body, a chic second skin that any woman would feel special wearing. This philosophy is applied when creating fragrances for the house with Eau de Parfum Nude being the latest addition the collection which includes Eau de Parfum and Eau de Parfum Blanche.
Perfurmer Marie Salamagne worked with wood, focusing on cedar and sandalwood which she then blended with the warmth of tonka bean and contrasted with the freshness of cardamom and the velvety notes of orange blossom. Designed to be sprayed directly on the skin, the wearer adds the final ingredient to the scent making it bespoke to them.
For Salamagne, the Eau de Parfum Nude is the logical sequel as well as being a more comforting fragrance to be adopted for oneself, rather than for others. Now that’s a personal touch.

Donatella Versace is the next designer to say no to fur in her future collections, but we are yet to receive the official statement from the brand.
The luxury fashion label has a long history of using fur but in an interview with The Economist’s 1843 magazine on Wednesday, Donatella said that she will no longer include it in any of her designs for Versace, adding:
“Fur? I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right.”
She follows in the footsteps of Furla, Gucci, Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo who have all pledged to go fur-free. In the last few years we also saw Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Net-A-Porter stop sale of fur goods.
From recent runway shows, faux has never looked better. Brands like Givenchy and Stella McCartney showcased the fluffiest cruelty-free coats while labels like Shrimp continue to attract fans looking for fur-free yet stylish outerwear.

Bottega Veneta introduce the next chapter of the Art of Collaboration campaign for SS18 in form of six distinct cinematic films.
Released episodically throughout the season via multiple platforms and directed by Fabien Baron, these narrative episodes offer an immersive and innovative mobile-first storytelling. Titled Reflections, the Creative Director Tomas Maier wanted to offer a new approach to delivering a message of the luxury brand that relies on a team of collaborators instead of a single creative voice to translate the vision. He said:
“We have always told stories about our products and our brand. The evolution of the Art of Collaboration enables us to reach and have a dialogue with the customer on his or her own terms.”
The short films will unfold in the style of an anthology series with different narratives and characters using the brands pillars – mystery, sophistication, architecture, sensuality and surrealism – at their core.
After having revealed the first two films, Miraggio and 196.6 MHz, the house now presents Utopia and Rebirth. In Utopia, a man and woman cross paths in the midst of a mysterious pink fog. The film represents the idealistic world and the dreamy but charged potential of a moment when two people cross in on the street.
Rebirth is about the reversal of time. It takes place in a warmly lit room where the motionless characters create an unspoken connection through the movement of light and objects. The thousands of flowers represent the rebirth of life, a dreamy state of nostalgic memories and the naiveté of childhood.
See the videos below and stay tuned for the opening of the brands new store in the Dubai Mall Fashion extension on Monday March 19.

La Prairie White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire lavish face cream is your answer to spotless and luminous skin.
It works to illuminate the skin and diffuse dark spots as well as discolouration with results that are measurable in two weeks, visible in four, extraordinary in eight. La Prairie had to work through over a whopping 50,000 ingredients in order to find the key one that has the most powerful brightening effect. Lumidose molecule is the most effective in supporting the inhibition of melanin, the pigment that causes dark spots.
Dr. Jacqueline Hill, Director Strategic Innovation & Science and Dr. Daniel Stangl, Director of Innovation at La Prairie share the idea and key elements behind the newest addition to the product range.
What is the breakthrough innovation of White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire?
The potency of Lumidose, combined with other La Prairie brightening agents. It is well known that the formation of melanin is mainly triggered by UV light, leading to the stimulation of several signalling pathways in keratinocytes and melanocytes. Although existing products in the White Caviar Collection contain powerful ingredients that help control the production of melanin at various stages, there has not been an opportunity to exert control as powerful as Lumidose can. It outperforms the standards of our existing brighteners.
What inspired you to create this product?
Age spots and discolouration can be the most stubborn signs of aging. They are difficult to control, and nearly impossible to conceal. Many clients have expressed a desire for help in obtaining perfectly luminous skin with no discolouration flaws. What once seemed like a concern only in Asian markets has become a worldwide demand, often from those who have previously engaged in repetitive sun exposure. There are no overnight solutions to problems that may have built up in the skin for decades. This is why our scientists have studied in detail the mechanisms of melanin formation in human skin and have spent 15 years developing Lumidose to address the most demanding client concerns in brightening.
How does it integrate in the White Caviar beauty ritual?
To achieve extraordinary results, it is recommended to apply White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire twice a day, every day, after thorough cleansing. As a first step, apply White Caviar Illuminating Clarifying Lotion. Follow with White Caviar Illuminating Eye Serum to help diminish the appearance of darkness under the eye while smoothing the look of lines. Over the rest of the face, neck and décolleté, apply White Caviar Illuminating Pearl Infusion, a serum that targets age spots, redness and greyness. Gently dab eye area with White Caviar Illuminating Eye Cream, that helps brighten the delicate skin around the eye and leaves it feeling hydrated. Finish the Ritual by dispensing a single dose of White Caviar Crème Extraordinaire and smoothing it gently over entire face, avoiding eye area. Generously apply Cellular Swiss UV Protection Veil SPF 50 in the morning and repeat throughout the day for optimised protection against UV-induced effects of aging.

Professor Hawking was the first to set out a theory of cosmology as a union of relativity and quantum mechanics and his extraordinary life was captured in a film The Theory Of Everything for which actor Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar.
