Thanks to the 90’s nostalgia, denim dresses have been injected with some serious edge this season.
The street appeal has been channelled by celebrities like Rihanna who styled her midi dress over wide legs jeans with a Louis Vuitton bag, baseball cap and chain necklaces. Elsewhere we spotted asymmetric hemlines, extra zips, frayed edges from designers like the newcomer Unravel that offered a deconstructed jacket spliced with a jean skirt. The cutout shoulder add dose of cool to the piece, which comes in a vintage-style indigo wash that can be layered over a long white shirt.
Johanna Ortiz offers something a little bit more feminine, but still with plenty of bite. Her layered denim dress sits over a lace white skirt which is held together with a wide burgundy belt. Sacai is one of the best brands for versatility that allows you to play with the silhouette, and in this case the denim dress transforms from shift to A-line in one simple move – unfasten the zips along the sides to reveal a ruffled panel that adds fullness to the skirt.

Budding footwear designers listen up, Salvatore Ferragamo just announced a nine-month Master’s in Shoe Design course.
Danilo Venturi and James Ferragamo revealed the new partnership between Polimoda and Salvatore Ferragamo that aims to help shape the next generation of shoe designers. During the announcement, Venturi said:
“Creating a beautiful shoe is no longer sufficient; designers must be versatile and able to navigate the shifting market. The Master’s program in collaboration with Ferragamo has this goal in mind: to provide students with the skills necessary to become the next generation of shoe designers.”
The specially designed program will impart Ferragamo’s impressive legacy onto the aspiring designers. Starting in January 2019, students will get a behind-the-scenes look at production and business sectors and visit local production companies.
“Today, the fashion world must set goals, and this includes training the next generation. It is important to share our know-how with students to train them and respond to market needs,” says Ferragamo.
“I firmly believe that a career in the shoe business must be founded on a comprehensive understanding of the product: design techniques, components, materials and construction, and what better way to learn than through hands-on training in the crafting of shoes at a company that has always designed and produced them,” he adds.
The study plan covers a wide range of topics, from interpreting materials to researching innovative production techniques, new forms of merchandising management and the strategies behind collection planning.
Spending nine months surrounded by fabulous shoes, now that sounds like our kind of education.

Kylie Jenner Set to Become the Youngest Ever Billionaire
Titled 21 Collection, Kylie Cosmetics fan’s got a first glimpse of the new release on Instagram where she shared videos and pictures of the products, and said on Instastories:
“I can’t believe I’m about to 21. It’s definitely the most personal collection that I’ve done. I hope you guys love it. My birthday collections are super special to me, because the first collection I ever did was for my 19th birthday, so this is going to be my third annual birthday collection. My birthdays are kind of what set off collections for me.”
What can you expect? Kylie added six new matte lipsticks in various bold hues and a 21 shade palette, with some of the packaging featuring the star herself.
Luckily, you won’t have long to wait as it will officially launch on August 6.
Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus picked a unique spot for his vacation.
Owned by Pierre Cardin, Le Palais Bulles (Bubble Palace) is located in Théoule-sur-Mer near Cannes. Built in the seventies and eighties, the Hungarian architect Antti Lovag wanted to design a modern day cave – hence the circular spaces.

Jacquemus Presents First Men’s Collection in Marseille
Each of the 10 bedrooms have a circular bed (in-keeping with the theme) and have been decorated by contemporary artists. The Palace of Bubbles also offers incredible views of the sea from one of the many swimming pools.
We can imagine Jacquemus wondering through tropical gardens in his Riviera chic wardrobe (perhaps an oversized straw hat too?) and admiring sunsets from the 500-seat amphitheatre.
Looks familiar? This bubblicious creation has been host to many high-profile events, including the Dior 2016 Cruise show.
Age has no limit, and that why the newest campaign from Gucci starring actress Faye Dunaway has struck such a chord.
At 77, she was chosen by the Italian brand to showcase their signature handbag, the Sylvie in a shoot and short film. In one shot, Dunaway looks chic in a floral print dress, while in another she is given some streetwear edge with a lace tracksuit and cap.
The lifestyles of the rich and famous in Hollywood have long been a source of material for filmmakers, and it is this cinematic genre which inspires the latest Gucci campaign film.
In the segment, Dunaway’s character is seen spending her days being ferried around in a chauffeur-driven limo, signing autographs, shopping on Rodeo Drive, lounging poolside, playing tennis and living a life of luxurious leisure.
This is seen through the eyes of her daughter, who is often her companion. The third character in these scenes is the mother’s ever-present Sylvie bag. The film concludes with the mother giving her daughter a handbag of her own – which we would happily accept too.
Now this is how you rock it in your seventies.

Yesterday, Karlie Kloss announced her engagement to long-term boyfriend Joshua Kushner.
Kushner proposed while the couple were on holiday in Capri, Italy, with the model posting a sweet message on her Instagram page before showing off a beautiful diamond ring on Instastories.
‘I love you more than I have words to express. Josh, you’re my best friend and my soulmate. I can’t wait for forever together. Yes a million times over,’ she wrote.
Kloss has been dating Kushner, an American businessman, since 2012. He comes from a prominent New York family, and his brother Jared Kushner is President’s Donald Trump advisor and is married to Ivanka Trump – so Kloss is marrying into an impressive circle.
From what’s been reported, the future sisters in law are not very close with Kloss and her now fiancée being Democrats who voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016. The pair also attended the Women’s March in opposition to Trump in 2017.
Despite potential political tensions, it’s likely that the Trumps, in particular Ivanka, will be attending the wedding which we are sure is going to be a glittering event.

The supermodel body might seem like a distant dream, but Elle Macpherson gave us hope after sharing how she changed her diet after 50.
In conversation with New Beauty the model discussed the transition she went through after celebrating her 50th birthday, saying:
“I started to put on weight around my waist and hips, which was never my thing before. My legs started to get heavy. I started to feel lethargic.”
Lucky for us, the shift she made in her lifestyle is easy to implement in your day to day life. After consulting with a nutritionist, Macpherson tried the plant-based alkaline diet and cut back on sugar, wheat and animal by-products.
“What I’d always thought were sunspots—actually, they were sugar spots— started to clear, and my skin looked tighter, dewier and plumper,” she added. “I started to lose weight, probably because my sugar cravings had subsided. My digestion improved. I felt more emotionally balanced.”

Prince Harry reportedly vetoed an outfit Meghan Markle picked out for their next major royal tour as husband and wife.
The Duchess of Sussex has been making plenty of style statements during her short time as a British royal, but according to the Daily Mail she’s been banned from wearing a tuxedo on the upcoming tour of Australia.
Set to take place in October, the newspaper states that when Markle wanted to pick a masculine tuxedo from Stella McCartney for an evening event, Harry had to veto her choice – probably because his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, prefers to see women traditionally in dresses and skirts. A source from the fashion team at Kensington Palace said:
“Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal. Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.”
The Duchess has been seen in a number of tailored outfits, including the tour of Ireland and for the Endeavour Fund Awards’ Ceremony at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London.
The British newspaper also made a link between her fashion taste with the late Princess Diana who famously wore a tuxedo to a dog racing event at Wembley Stadium in 1988.
Let’s see if Meghan can find the balance between royal family’s strict fashion rules and her own taste.

The great city of London is full of wonders and your experience of it’s heritage can begin at the lobby of one of the most iconic and luxurious hotels in the British capital.
Brown’s was London’s first hotel having opened on Albemarle Street in 1837. Since unveiling, it has become one of the city’s most renowned properties hosting esteemed guests, from royals to presidents. Not only does it offer a rich history but also first-class facilities, award-winning dining and flawless service in the heart of Mayfair.
Situated a few minutes away from Green Park and Buckingham Palace, the hotel celebrates 181 years of impeccable hospitality that attracted the likes of writer Rudyard Kipling who completed The Jungle Book at the hotel and now has a suite named after him.
Follow in the footsteps of Laurence of Arabia and George Orwell, sipping tea in the very room that Franklin Roosevelt visited on his honeymoon and, due to the hotel’s illustrious past, it has become one of the most treasured tea rooms in town.
When it was bought in 2005 by Rocco Forte group, the iconic venue had some modern updates and most recently has seen the renovation of the Donovan Bar and Beck at Browns into an elegantly modern hang outs with quirky twists for a buzzing London crowd to enjoy.
ROOMS
With 117 bedrooms in total, each designed by hotelier Olga Polizzi, we stayed in one of the 29 Suites. It was one of the most spacious junior suites we have encountered in the city, with plenty of natural light and essential amenities.
It makes for a comfortable stay, but it could do with a similar facelift that the Donovan Bar and Beck at Browns restaurant have enjoyed. The style is sophisticated with cream carpets, soft bed, large bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and seating area, but lacks a little personality.
Other key suites such as the Kipling Suite and the Dover Suite offer a lot more in terms of décor. If you are traveling with a large family, the hotel can hire out the whole floor to guarantee extra privacy.
FOOD & DRINK
In April, Michelin starred chef Heinz Beck returned to the hotel’s new restaurant Beck at Brown’s. At it’s epicentre is Heinz’s Italian pedigree, refined over his years running kitchens in Rome, so expect some of the best dishes from the region in the heart of London.
The space itself consists of three areas, separated by ornamental bronze screens, each section; bar, dining and a more private dining room. The focal feature in the space is the specially commissioned wallpaper by interior designer Adam Ellis which sits boldly above the panelling. The wall covering has a strong botanical image, continued throughout the restaurant, from the tapestry-like fabric of the banquettes and embroidered blinds to the vibrant colours of the dining chairs.
There’s also a striking bespoke chandeliers from the Florentine designers Chelini to further enhance the warm Italian atmosphere.
Donovan Bar has long been known as one of the most intimate and sophisticated meeting places in London, playing host to gatherings of the most glamorous faces of Mayfair’s elite fashion and art scene. Bars name is a tribute to a close friend of the Forte family, the iconic 1960’s photographer Sir Terence Donovan. The bar area provides the perfect meeting place for pre-theatre drinks and nightcaps.
LITTLE SOMETHING FOR THE FAMILIES
Kids are treated like VIP’s with milk and cookies and the teddy turndown service as well as teen spa treatments. Expect sheets embroidered with princesses or pirates, and a play tent, while older children will enjoy the kids’ library, or movies and games consoles in each bedroom.
If you want to have some time for yourselves, make use of the 24-hour babysitting service.
This summer, the mini guests of the hotel will have a few mysteries to solve thanks to expert party planners Sharky & George. Let your little one’s imagination run free as they transform in to detectives, explorers, foodies and undercover agents to embark on an array of quests including The Brown’s Adventure Race and Phileas Fogg’s Food Challenge.
Gucci launches its Gucci-Dapper Dan collection online and at select flagship stores around the world.
Taking inspiration from archive imagery from the 80’s showing Dapper Dan’s custom pieces, photographer Ari Marcopoulos shot in and around the streets of Harlem, New York, to get a similar street feel to the original photographs.
Featuring young personalities from the neighbourhood together with models wearing the ready-to-wear and accessories of the range, the images pay homage to the celebrated designer’s heritage.
Expect Guccified version of the original Dapper Dan designs including variety of luxurious tracksuits and jackets. He was known for using all-over logos in his original designs, so screen-printed leather featuring the GG logo is key here.
Appliqué is also implemented on the chests and backs of pieces, with Gucci designs (like the embroidered dragon) embellishing Dap’s original decorations. Gold printed python is employed as a trim, to reference Dap’s original use of gold leather, and ciniglia jersey replicates the look and feel of his tracksuits of the Eighties.
Denim has late-Eighties/early-Nineties washes and fits, and canvas jackets use the GG jacquard, while a light nappa leather is coloured gold. A GG jacquard knit takes its inspiration from a Dapper Dan custom car interior, while the script on the window of his original Harlem store was the starting point for the development of a new yellow Gucci logo.
There’s a huge variety of accessories with are eye landing on the large sunglasses with Swarovski crystal embellishments, including a Dapper Dan logo in stones on the arms.

Dior are relaunching the classic Saddle Bag, which made its debut in the Spring/Summer 2000 RTW collection, in a variety of designs created by Maria Grazia Chiuri. She said in a statement:
“I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty. I consider this icon of the house’s recent history the perfect accessory to deal with this battle that is daily life. Indeed, the saddle bag is a bag that is worn in exactly the same way as a shirt or jacket, and it’s so comfortable to wear with its long strap that you almost forget it’s there. The saddle bag is also practical because it allows you to carry everything you need with you.”
It’s for this reason that I wanted it larger and more robust, but also very colourful, embroidered or with beaded fringe because, like a chameleon, it adapts to all situations,” she added.
Designed in 1999 by John Galliano (then creative director of Dior) in reference to the world of equestrianism, with a form alluding to a horse saddle decorated with a gilt ‘D’. The bags become an immediate cult object and was propelled into the limelight internationally by numerous artists and celebrities including Beyoncé, Elle Macpherson, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
We expect the same effect the newest versions.
